Cairo: Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority Ali Al-Ghamrawi received Dr Shou Jinghe, Head of the Global Harmonization Working Party and Deputy Head of the Chinese counterpart agency, along with several leaders from the organization.According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting aimed to enhance cooperation in the regulation and manufacturing of medical supplies on a global level, through constructive dialogue between regulatory bodies and the industry. This took place on the sidelines of the conclusion of the Egyptian Drug Authority's hosting of the leaders of the Technical Committee of the Global Harmonization Working Party (GHWP) for 2025, marking the first time it has been held in Africa.The meeting featured a presentation of the regulatory framework of the Egyptian Drug Authority and the best regulatory practices followed in the field of medical supplies, emphasizing Egypt's distinguished position on the regulatory map in the Middle East and Africa, and at the level of relevant international organizations.Attending the meeting from the Authority were Dr Tamer El-Hosseiny, Deputy Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority, Dr Yassir Ragab, Assistant Head of the Authority for Media and Investment Support and Supervisor of the Central Department of Pharmaceutical Care, Dr Amani Joudat, Assistant Head of the Authority and Supervisor of the Central Administration for the Office of the Head of the Authority, Dr Miriam Boulos, Head of the Central Administration for Medical Supplies, Dr Amira Mahgoub, Head of the Central Administration for Operations, and Dr Osama Hatem, Assistant Head of the Authority for Policies and International Cooperation and Supervisor of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Policies and Market Support.The visiting delegation included representatives from regulatory bodies and industry partners, including Ms Ona Zhou, Deputy Head of GHWP and Deputy Head of Abbott Medical - Korea, Dr Mohammed Mujrashi, Head of the Technical Committee of the organisation, Ms Li Jun, Deputy Dir ector of the Medical Device Evaluation Centre in China, Ms Mianq Tangkasamsab, Head of Regulatory Affairs for Johnson and Johnson in Asia-Pacific, Mr Brian Su, Secretary-General of the GHWP, along with several officials from the Chinese counterpart agency NMPA and the GHWP.This meeting reflects the Egyptian Drug Authority's commitment to enhancing cooperation with international organizations and leading regulatory bodies, in order to support the development of policies and regulations governing the medical supplies and diagnostic reagents sector, contributing to achieving the Authority's strategic objectives and Egypt's Vision 2030 in the health sector.
