Cairo: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, met with Mr. Terje Pilskog, CEO of the Norwegian company Scatec, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and Norway in the renewable energy sector.According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of building on the outcomes of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Norway in December 2024. He highlighted the Egyptian government's commitment to empowering the private sector, attracting foreign direct investment, and supporting foreign companies in Egypt.During the meeting, the Foreign Minister discussed Egypt's plans to support the green economy and transform the country into a global hub for green hydrogen production. He noted that Scatec's projects align with Egypt's strategic goals and expressed full support for the company's initiatives in Egypt. He highlighted the Obelisk solar power project in Nagaa Ha mmadi, Qena Governorate, which saw the inauguration of its first phase attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly on Monday, January 12, 2026.Minister Abdelatty also stressed the importance of increasing Scatec's investments in Egypt, advancing clean electricity export projects to Europe, and exploring opportunities for trilateral cooperation in Africa for development projects, particularly in renewable energy.
