Cairo: Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, received a delegation of Canadian businessmen. The meeting was also attended by Eng. Moataz Raslan, Chairman of the Egyptian-Canadian Business Council, and Eng. Sherif El-Gebaly, Chairman of the African Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives and a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian-Canadian Business Council. This meeting reflects the commitment to strengthening economic, investment, and trade relations between the two friendly countries.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Foreign Minister emphasized the pride in the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Canada. He expressed his aspiration for further cooperation in the economic and trade fields and encouraged Canadian companies to expand their investments in Egypt, particularly in the energy, agriculture, and water resources sectors, given the investment incentives and attractive opportunities available in Egypt.

Minister Abdel-Aty also highlighted the importance of building upon the outcomes of the twelfth round of political consultations between the two countries, held in April 2025, which included a visit by a delegation of Egyptian business leaders to Ottawa. He expressed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' readiness to provide the necessary support to the Egyptian-Canadian Business Council to enhance its role in attracting Canadian investments to the Egyptian market and supporting Egyptian exports to Canada, given the priority the Egyptian government places on attracting foreign investment to achieve its sustainable development goals.

Minister Abdel-Aty also reviewed the package of economic and financial reforms undertaken by the Egyptian government in recent years, as well as the measures taken to improve the investment climate, modernize business regulations, and remove obstacles for investors, all of which have contributed to developing the business environment and enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.
