Addis ababa: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty emphasized the importance of fully implementing Phase Two of President Donald Trump's plan, primarily accelerating the formation and deployment of an international stability force to oversee the ceasefire, ensure regular humanitarian aid flow, and follow up on the Israeli withdrawal from controlled areas in the Gaza Strip.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on the sidelines of the African Summit in Addis Ababa. Abdelatty renewed Egypt's support for the National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip, led by Dr. Ali Shaath, as a temporary transitional mechanism to handle daily affairs and provide basic needs for Gaza people.

He added that this would pave the ground for enabling the Palestinian Authority to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2803, while rejecting any attempts to separate Gaza from the West Bank. Abdelatty condemned recent blatant Israeli decisions and violations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including settlement expansion, land confiscation, and settler violence, considering them flagrant violations that undermine chances for a just peace and threaten the two-state solution.

Abdelatty explained that the African Summit is an important occasion to reaffirm the constants of the African position supporting the Palestinian cause. He pointed to the importance of maintaining Africa's historic support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution principle.

For his part, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa expressed deep appreciation for the pivotal Egyptian role in supporting the Palestinian cause and facilitating humanitarian aid access into the enclave. He emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation with Cairo during the coming period, in support of Palestinian unity and to enhance the Arab and African drive supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
