Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed during his meeting with Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), that the security of the GCC states is an integral part of Egypt's national security.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt's pride in the fraternal relations it shares with the GCC states, as well as the notable progress in institutional relations between the two sides since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations in February 2022, and the adoption of the 'Joint Action Plan' between Egypt and the GCC for 2024-2028 during the ministerial meeting held in Mecca in March 2025.

He also welcomed the convening of the first Egyptian-Gulf Trade and Investment Forum in Cairo in November 2025, stressing the importance of building on the momentum it generated, particularly in the fields of renewable energy and petrochemicals, the digital economy and artificial intelligence, and pharmaceuticals.

The Foreign Minister reiterated Egypt's steadfast support for the security and stability of the brotherly GCC states, expressing Egypt's solidarity with them. He affirmed Egypt's full support for the measures they are taking to protect their security, stability, and the resources and interests of their peoples.

He also expressed appreciation for the Gulf efforts to support de-escalation and enhance security and stability in the region, stressing the importance of continuing close coordination between Cairo and the GCC, putting an end to military escalation, and addressing the concerns of the various parties.

For his part, Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi praised the pivotal role played by Egypt in supporting security and stability in the region, as well as its ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions, resolve crises, and promote joint Arab action. He affirmed the GCC's keenness to continue developing its relations with Egypt and strengthening consultations and coordination with Cairo on various issues of common interest.
