Oslo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty met with Syrian Foreign Minister in the new transitional government, Asaad al-Shaibani, on the sidelines of the Oslo Forum.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Shaibani briefed Abdelatty on the political, security, and economic developments in Syria, as well as the internal and external challenges recently facing the country. Egypt’s top diplomat reiterated his country’s support for the Syrian people and efforts to achieve security and stability in Syria, while preserving its territorial integrity and the unity of its national institutions.
He stressed the importance of involving all Syrian national powers in the political process to achieve sustainable stability, reflecting the societal, religious, sectarian, and ethnic diversity within Syria. Abdelatty also emphasized combating terrorism and addressing the issue of foreign fighters to maintain stability in the region.
Abdelatty warned of the serious consequences of foreign interference in Syria, condemning Israel’s repeated violations of Syrian sovereignty and its continued occupation of Syrian territory.
