Brussels: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty applauded the European Union's commitment to promoting cooperation with South-Mediterranean countries, stressing Egypt's keenness to enhance its strategic relations with the EU in various fields.According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty addressed the 5th EU-Southern Neighbourhood Ministerial Meeting held in Brussels, highlighting the importance of fostering economic, trade, investment, and cultural ties between the EU and the southern neighboring countries. He emphasized the need for supporting human development and working to provide new sources of development finance.The Foreign Minister also called for enhanced cooperation in industry, energy, food and water security, ICT, technology transfer, and Artificial Intelligence. Abdelatty underscored Egypt's priority in consolidating regional security and stability through peaceful dispute resolution, in accordance with international law and UN resolutions. He further stressed the significance of the Palestinian people attaining their right to an independent state based on the June 4th, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.The ministerial meeting in Brussels aimed to discuss the latest developments related to the imminent launch of a new charter for regional cooperation in the Mediterranean.
