FM Highlights Job Creation as Key Development Priority

Baku:Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty emphasized that job creation must remain a top priority for development. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that development financing results in decent and sustainable jobs, increases productivity, and enhances competitiveness. These statements were made during a ministerial roundtable on job creation held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, which was attended by World Bank Group President Ajay Banga.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty discussed Egypt's approach to accelerating the implementation of development projects. He noted the establishment of institutional mechanisms designed to track progress and address any challenges in implementation. A presidential committee has been set up to monitor national projects and coordinate efforts across government entities, aiming to overcome obstacles and ensure effective financing translates into tangible development outcomes.

Abdelatty also highlighted the role of private sector participation in development projects. He stressed the importance of utilizing guarantee instruments to attract additional private investment alongside concessional development financing. Such measures are intended to close financing gaps, boost private sector involvement, and maximize the impact of funding in generating new and sustainable jobs.
