FM Hails Brazil’s Support for Egyptian Candidate for Top UNESCO Post

Paris: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Monday, October 6, 2025, praised Brazil's support for the Arab and African candidate for the post of UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany, highlighting his outstanding competence and extensive experience that qualify him to lead the organization.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this came during his meeting with Brazil's permanent delegate to UNESCO, who currently chairs GRULAC - the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries - as part of his visit to Paris to head Egypt's delegation to the UNESCO Executive Board meetings and lead Egypt's campaign for Enany's candidacy in the election scheduled later in the day.

Abdelatty stressed that Brazil's stance reflects the high regard enjoyed by the Egyptian candidacy within the international community and the strong confidence in Enany's ability to contribute effectively to advancing UNESCO's role and strengthening its mission.
