Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a virtual meeting on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, with Egyptian staff working at the African Union (AU) Commission and its various institutions and bodies. The meeting was part of efforts to maintain continuous communication with Egyptian professionals working at regional and international organizations and to hear their views and proposals on ways to strengthen Egypt's presence within AU institutions.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty praised the Egyptian professionals working within the AU for their expertise and capabilities. The minister emphasized that the presence of Egyptian cadres in various positions across AU institutions represents an important asset for Egypt and contributes to supporting African institutional work and transferring national expertise to continental frameworks.

He highlighted the importance of continuing efforts to increase Egyptian representation across the AU's bodies and institutions by supporting and developing national talent. He encouraged qualified Egyptians to apply for available positions. The foreign minister also listened to the views and proposals of Egyptian professionals on ways to strengthen Egypt's presence within AU institutions, underscoring the importance of maintaining regular communication with Egyptian staff working at the AU to benefit from their expertise and insights.

Abdelatty also reviewed ongoing preparations for Egypt to host the Alamein Africa Forum, which is scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting from October 2 to 4, 2026, in the city of Alamein.
