FM Engages in Talks with Gulf and Jordanian Counterparts on Regional Tensions

Cairo: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held telephone talks with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi to discuss regional de-escalation and measures to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions revolved around the ongoing dangerous escalation in the region. Abdelatty condemned Iran's continued attacks targeting the Gulf states and Jordan, emphasizing the urgent need to halt these assaults, which constitute clear violations of international law and the UN Charter, and infringe upon the sovereignty and resources of the affected countries.The talks also focused on sustained efforts to contain the crisis, stressing the importance of continued and intensified coordination with brotherly and friendly nations to prevent further deterioration. The ministers reviewed outcomes of the recent quadripartite ministerial meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan, exchanging views on building on its results and advancing regional and international initiatives to end the war, reduce tensions, push forward the diplomatic process, and reinforce dialogue as the sole means to avert widespread chaos in the region.
