New york: Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, met with Mr. Luigi Di Maio, the European Union's Special Representative for the Gulf, on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Ambassador Nader Zaki, the Foreign Ministry's official spokesperson, conveyed that Minister Abdel Aati focused discussions with the EU envoy on regional issues, including Yemen, the Iranian crisis, and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Minister Abdel Aati emphasized the need to de-escalate tensions and return to political negotiations to enhance regional security and stability. He also highlighted the importance of ensuring the security and freedom of maritime navigation in line with international law.

The meeting further included discussions on advancing cooperation between Egypt and the European Union, particularly in economic, trade, and investment relations. Both parties explored ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in the energy sector to serve their mutual interests.
