FM Discusses Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments with Dutch Counterpart

Cairo: A phone call was held between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, and Mr. Tom Berendsen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. The conversation focused on bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Dutch Foreign Minister praised the momentum in Egypt-Netherlands relations, reflecting the recent call between the President of the Republic and the Dutch Prime Minister. He affirmed a shared interest in strengthening relations between the two countries and advancing them further.

Minister Abdelatty expressed his aspiration to boost bilateral relations across all fields. He highlighted the importance of capitalizing on opportunities to enhance economic ties and promote Dutch investments in Egypt, particularly in new economic zones and major national projects. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation on issues of mutual interest, such as migration and water management, and valued the Netherlands' support for Egypt within European Union institutions.

The call also addressed regional developments, including efforts to promote diplomatic engagement between the United States and Iran. Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for the negotiation process, emphasizing the need for a second round of talks to consolidate the ceasefire and halt the war. He reviewed Egypt's ongoing diplomatic efforts, asserting that negotiation and dialogue are crucial to resolving the conflict and preventing further instability in the region.

Regarding the Palestinian cause, Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of continuing to implement all elements of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan. This includes deploying an international stabilization force, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, and launching recovery and reconstruction programs. He also warned of serious developments in the West Bank due to continued Israeli violations and military operations.

The conversation also touched on the situation in Lebanon. Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's stance in support of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of empowering Lebanese national institutions. He welcomed the recently announced ceasefire and reiterated the need to stop Israeli attacks.

Minister Abdelatty also briefed his Dutch counterpart on Egypt's position regarding developments in Sudan. He stressed the importance of preserving Sudan's unity and territorial integrity and highlighted ongoing efforts to reach a humanitarian truce as a step toward a ceasefire.

The Dutch Foreign Minister looked forward to strengthening bilateral relations and praised Egypt's role in supporting regional stability. He commended the Egyptian leadership's approach to ongoing developments. At the end of the conversation, the two ministers agreed to maintain coordination and consultation to support regional security and stability.
