Abu dhabi: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted on Saturday, December 13, 2025, that strengthening the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is a top priority because it is the key to fully implementing US President Donald Trump's peace plan and ensuring an orderly transition to its second phase. He said that this would ensure the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid and the launch of early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty's remarks were made during his meeting with Tom Fletcher, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, on the sidelines of the Sir Bani Yas Forum in the UAE. Abdelatty stressed the crucial role of the UN and its agencies, especially the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), in protecting civilians, monitoring violations, and guaranteeing humanitarian access.

He reiterated Egypt's firm rejection of any attempts at forced displacement, underscoring the importance of continued close coordination with the UN to support stability and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians.
