FM Calls for Intensifying Regional, International Action to Preserve Stability

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty called for stronger regional and international coordination to preserve stability, warning against the catastrophic and serious consequences of continued violence and the widening scope of conflict that threatens regional and international peace and security.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister stressed the importance of intensifying regional and international coordination to maintain stability and protect the safety of international navigation. Abdelatty underlined the need for concerted regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions, favor political solutions, and rely on dialogue and diplomacy to contain the escalating situation and prevent the conflict from spreading. He cautioned that any expansion of military operations would place the security and stability of the entire region at grave risk.

The remarks came during phone calls with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as part of Egypt's ongoing efforts to reduce tensions and promote calm in the region. Abdelatty reiterated the importance of prioritizing de-escalation, diplomacy, and dialogue to prevent the region from sliding into broader confrontations.

He also condemned attacks on the security and sovereignty of friendly and brotherly states, stressing that there is no justification for such acts. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, that the discussion with the Jordanian foreign minister addressed the latest developments in the escalation and the importance of calming the situation, including Egypt's efforts to evacuate stranded Egyptian citizens from neighboring countries through Jordan, praising Jordanian authorities for their support.

During the call with the Iranian foreign minister, Abdelatty emphasized the seriousness of the regional situation and the need to prevent the conflict from spreading, reiterating Egypt's full condemnation of all Iranian attacks on the Gulf countries, Jordan, Iraq, as well as Turkey and Azerbaijan. He stressed the importance of stopping hostilities promptly and respecting the principles of good neighborliness and state sovereignty. The minister also underlined diplomacy and dialogue are the only means to contain tensions and prevent the region from sliding into widespread chaos that threatens regional and international peace and security.
