Cairo: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs hosted the inaugural consular consultations between Egypt and Russia on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The discussions were led by senior officials from both countries, with Ambassador Haddad Abdel-Tawab Al-Gohary representing Egypt and Mr. Oleg Fomin leading the Russian delegation.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the consultations focused on facilitating entry visa issuance for students and businesspeople and enhancing economic and trade relations. Both sides also addressed support for investments and discussed the challenges faced by their citizens residing in each other's countries.
The Russian delegation expressed its commitment to fostering cooperation with Egypt across various sectors, particularly in tourism. The number of Russian tourists visiting Egypt surpassed 1.5 million in 2024, and efforts are underway to boost tourism further through new flight operations to Al-Alamein and Borg El Arab airports.
