Cairo: The Eritrean community in Egypt celebrated the 65th anniversary of the beginning of the armed struggle for Eritrean independence with patriotic zeal. The event was marked by a gathering in Cairo, attended by numerous nationals, and featured cultural programs that highlighted the importance of Bahti Meskerem to the Eritrean people.

According to African Press Organization, the celebration included a speech by Mr. Aman Abdelwasie, Charge d'Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy. He emphasized that September 1, the day marking the start of Eritrea's armed struggle for independence and dignity, holds significant importance in the nation's history. Mr. Abdelwasie encouraged citizens to renew their commitment to national development programs in remembrance of this pivotal day.
