Cairo: The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) announced on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, that the 148th convoy of the "Zad Al-Ezzah. From Egypt to Gaza" initiative departed carrying urgent humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The initiative forms part of the organization's ongoing role as a national mechanism for coordinating aid to the territory.According to State Information Service Egypt, the convoy includes over 85,000 tons of humanitarian supplies, comprising food baskets, flour, medical and relief materials, personal care items, and petroleum products to operate hospitals and essential facilities, addressing urgent needs in Gaza.In response to severe winter conditions, the ERC reinforced winter relief, providing approximately 8,840 winter clothing items, over 11,890 blankets, and around 1,325 tents to shelter affected families, reflecting Egypt's sustained support for Palestinians in Gaza.The organization continues its humanitarian work on the Egyptian side of the Rafah Crossing, facilitating t he 19th group of Palestinian wounded, patients, and injured individuals, assisting them in completing border-crossing procedures.The Red Crescent also offers a comprehensive package of services, including psychological support for children, family reunification, distribution of Suhoor and Iftar meals, provision of warm clothing and personal care items, and 'Return Kits' for those heading back to Gaza.Since the beginning of the crisis, the ERC has maintained a continuous presence along the border, keeping the Rafah crossing open on the Egyptian side and sustaining readiness across all logistical centers. Its efforts have facilitated the delivery of over 800,000 tons of humanitarian aid, supported by more than 65,000 volunteers.
