Cairo: Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat asserted that the state has a strategy and action plan to support industrial localization and the transfer of modern technologies, with particular focus on localizing industries related to electrical power equipment as part of the broader vision for industrial development, the national energy strategy and the major projects being implemented in this sector.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Esmat spoke during the inauguration of a Siemens factory for the production of key electrical components and automation solutions for industries and infrastructure. He emphasized the government's commitment to providing necessary support in this domain, highlighting the development of requirements and regulations to increase the share of local components in renewable energy projects.

The minister described Siemens as a successful partner operating in the Egyptian market for over a century, noting the company's investments in electricity, renewable energy, smart infrastructure, digital transformation, and national projects. These initiatives include major power plants, control centers, grid monitoring and operation systems, and energy management programs using advanced technologies, as well as the transition from traditional grids to smart grids.

Esmat stated that the newly inaugurated factory will initially serve the local market before expanding exports to the Middle East and Africa. The facility produces equipment, electrical components, protection panels, and other products. He affirmed that the electricity sector supports expanding local manufacturing of renewable energy equipment and components to meet domestic demand and export to neighboring countries. This is part of broader efforts to localize technology, strengthen domestic manufacturing, develop electricity infrastructure, and provide advanced automation and digital transformation solutions.

The minister also mentioned that the Ministry of Electricity supports models and partnerships founded on mutual benefit, technology transfer, and localization of modern technologies. He highlighted Egypt's improved investment climate and the ongoing reconstruction, modernization, and development across various sectors over the past decade.
