Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi emphasized the importance of ensuring quality education at universities and enhancing services at university hospitals during a recent meeting in El Alamein City. He highlighted the role of universities and research centers in addressing the challenges faced by Egypt, urging them to conduct assessments and propose practical solutions.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif, and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdel Aziz Konsowa. Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the meeting focused on developments in the education sector as the country prepares for the 2026/2027 academic year.

President El-Sisi instructed that school supply exhibitions be organized more extensively to offer affordable options for the new academic year. He also directed the implementation of minimum wage in schools for all staff members and emphasized the need to manage school fees to alleviate financial pressures on families.

The meeting included a discussion on the Egyptian Baccalaureate Certificate system, which received accreditation from the International Baccalaureate organization. Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif described this as a significant step in modernizing Egyptian curricula.

Minister Abdel Aziz Konsowa discussed plans to introduce international programs and dual degrees at universities. The minister also reviewed efforts to improve university hospitals and expand partnerships with foreign universities.

President El-Sisi reiterated the necessity for universities to focus on the issues confronting Egypt, providing assessments and solutions. He also highlighted the importance of digitalizing universities to maintain educational quality.

The meeting concluded with discussions on preparing students for the labor market and organizing the 12th All Africa Universities Games in Cairo in 2026, aiming for an exemplary event.
