Rio de janeiro: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, representing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Madbouly participated in the opening session and joined BRICS leaders for the official group photo.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the summit's agenda on Sunday, July 6, included an official arrival ceremony for heads of state and government, plenary sessions on 'Peace and Security and Reform of Global Governance' and 'Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence', and a working lunch. The day was set to conclude with an official reception hosted by the Brazilian President and his wife.
The summit, held on July 6-7, is themed "Strengthening Global South Cooperation for Inclusive and Sustainable Governance." It aims to address various global challenges and enhance cooperation among BRICS nations. On Monday, July 7, a plenary session will focus on 'Environment, COP30, and Global Health'.
Madbouly is also expected to attend several sessions focusing on BRICS member states and conduct bilateral meetings with other heads of state and government at the summit. The BRICS+ sessions will explore the enhancement of the international monetary and financial system and the implementation of key initiatives such as the new Investment Platform and the BRICS Grain Exchange.
