Baku:Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid Saleh, announced that the country's non-oil exports reached $48 billion by the end of 2025. This announcement was made during the opening of a trading session at the Egyptian Exchange, held in celebration of World Investor Week organized by the International Organization of Securities Commissions.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Saleh highlighted the significance of enhancing financial literacy, supporting young investors, and assisting Egyptian companies to expand internationally. He mentioned that recent regulatory changes have facilitated increased participation in the stock market by individuals under the age of 21. Additionally, he emphasized the need for stronger measures to protect new investors from harmful practices.
Saleh also discussed Egypt's foreign trade agreements with regions including the European Union, Arab countries, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Turkey. These agreements provide Egyptian businesses with opportunities to access foreign markets under preferential terms. He stressed the importance of educating young people and businesses about these agreements, particularly focusing on export regulations and rules of origin.
Furthermore, the minister advocated for the adoption of artificial intelligence and digital technology to assist companies in identifying potential markets, locating export opportunities, and meeting international trade requirements. He highlighted initiatives like the TradeTech Sandbox, which encourages the development of technology-driven solutions to streamline exporting processes.
Saleh also called for increased collaboration between universities, the Egyptian Exchange, and financial regulators to enhance financial education and prepare young people for careers in export-oriented sectors.
