Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Transport Inspects Revived El Nasr Automotive Factories

Helwan: Egypt's Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir visited the rejuvenated El Nasr Automotive Company factories in Helwan, as stated by the Ministry. His inspection included the upgraded passenger car plant, which now boasts new assembly and painting lines, furnaces, and rust-protection facilities. Additionally, he examined the bus plant, which is currently producing the 12-metre Nasr Sky and 8-metre Nasr Star buses with a 63 percent local component integration. Both eco-friendly electric and natural gas models are also in the pipeline for development.

According to State Information Service Egypt, El-Wazir emphasized that reviving closed or struggling factories is an essential aspect of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's seven-point emergency plan. This initiative aims to restore Egypt's industrial base, generate employment, and decrease dependency on imports. El-Wazir highlighted El Nasr Automotive as a prime example of this revival, asserting that reactivating dormant factories is more effective and socially beneficial than establishing new plants from scratch.

Shimi pointed out the introduction of new product lines, including environmentally friendly buses. He also confirmed ongoing coordination with the Transport Ministry to supply new vehicles for public transport and tourism fleets. Meanwhile, Gobran remarked on the new Labour Law No. 14 of 2025, which is scheduled to take effect in September. This law is aimed at balancing workers' rights with employers' needs, enhancing the labor market environment, and supporting investment.
