Egypt’s Mayar Sherif Advances to Last 16 at Grand Est Open 88

France: Egypt's Mayar Sherif has successfully advanced to the second round of the WTA 125 Grand Est Open 88, following a victory over Morocco's Yasmine Kabbaj. The match, which took place on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, saw Sherif secure a straight-set win with scores of 6-4, 6-2, propelling her into the last 16 of the tournament.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Sherif, who holds the 109th position in the global rankings, overcame Kabbaj, who is ranked 275th in the world. This victory marks a significant step forward for Sherif as she continues her journey in the clay-court event. Her next challenge will be against France's Amandine Hesse, currently ranked No. 401, as she aims to further advance in the competition.
