Egypt’s Assiut Refinery Reports Increased Output and Profit Surge

Cairo: Assiut Petroleum Refining Company (ASORC) announced that it processed over 3.1 million tons of crude during the 2024/2025 fiscal year, significantly increasing its output of high-value petroleum products.

According to State Information Service Egypt, diesel production in the same period rose to 760,000 tons annually, up 130,000 tons, covering half the needs of Central and Southern Upper Egypt. The refinery's gasoline production covered 80 percent of the local market's demand in Upper Egypt. The refinery also supplies a large portion of southern Egypt's airports with aviation fuel.

The first phase of the aviation fuel production unit has been completed, with the second phase underway to double production from 600 tons per day to 1,200 tons per day, expanding supply to southern airports. These efforts helped boost the company's net profits by 127 percent compared to the previous year.

The company also announced projects to increase production capacity, including a new unit capable of processing 5 million tons of crude per year and a facility for producing butane and naphtha.

Integrated energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction initiatives, including solar energy projects and a successful trial of hydrogen as an eco-friendly fuel for new boilers, are expected to save around 140 million Egyptian pounds.
