Egypt’s Ambassador Engages with South African Transport Minister on Infrastructure Collaboration

Pretoria: Ambassador Ahmed Sherif, representing Egypt in Pretoria, engaged in a meeting with South African Minister of Transport, Ms. Barbara Creecy, to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation in infrastructure and transport sectors.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Creecy presented South Africa’s strategy for the transport sector, emphasizing a partnership with the private sector to enhance efficiency and infrastructure modernization. The discussion highlighted South Africa’s commitment to improving its transport infrastructure.

Ambassador Sherif expressed appreciation for South Africa’s infrastructure development vision, particularly in roads, railways, and ports. He highlighted the capabilities of Egyptian construction firms and shared insights on Egypt’s port development experiences, suggesting potential collaborative opportunities in these sectors.

The conversation also touched on opportunities for cooperation on significant continental projects, including the “Cairo-Cape Town”
road and the navigation link between Lake Victoria and the Mediterranean Sea. Both parties recognized the importance of ongoing coordination between their respective authorities to bolster joint efforts and benefit the two nations’ peoples.
