Egyptian Ministry Explores Partnership with Worley to Boost Mining Sector

Cairo:Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi engaged in discussions with Vivek Natarajan, Vice President of the international company Worley, to explore leveraging the firm's global expertise in supporting Egypt's mining projects. The meeting took place during the Egypt Mining Forum 2026.According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions centered on utilizing specialized international expertise to enhance the development and efficiency of mining projects in Egypt. This aligns with the country's strategy to increase the added value of its mineral resources and attract more investment into the sector.Minister Badawi emphasized the importance of collaborating with international companies that possess expertise in various stages of mining projects. The dialogue also covered training and developing human capital through practical training and technical qualification programs, aimed at improving the skills of Egyptian workers and enabling them to adopt global technologies and practices .Vivek Natarajan expressed gratitude for the warm reception and expressed eagerness to participate in the Egypt Mining Forum 2026. He stated that Worley was keen to strengthen its relationship with the ministry and companies within Egypt's mining sector.Both parties agreed to enhance collaboration between Worley and Egyptian mining companies to better understand their needs and the different stages of their projects. This will open opportunities in infrastructure, processing facilities, and other components of mining projects. They also committed to maintaining coordination on current and future projects and exploring ways to apply Worley's expertise to comprehensive solutions supporting the growth of Egypt's mining sector, as well as the development of its workforce.
