Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty engaged in a phone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual interest.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussion focused on the prospects for advancing the Egyptian-Turkish partnership in the near future, highlighting the progress made in relations between the two nations. Both ministers expressed their commitment to enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

The dialogue reviewed the progress in implementing the understandings reached during the inaugural meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which took place in Cairo in February 2026 under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The ministers emphasized the importance of continuing preparations for the council's upcoming meeting in Trkiye.

On regional matters, the ministers exchanged views on developments and stressed the significance of maintaining Egyptian-Turkish coordination in addressing regional crises. They agreed on the need to intensify efforts to de-escalate tensions, prevent further escalation, and support political and diplomatic initiatives that contribute to regional security and stability.
