Manila: Foreign Minister, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty welcomed the progress witnessed in Egyptian-Dutch relations in recent years during a meeting on Friday, July 24, 2026, with Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting took place on the sidelines of Abdelatty's participation in the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Manila. Both ministers discussed various ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional developments. Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's eagerness to further enhance ties across multiple sectors, emphasizing the potential for increased Dutch investments in areas such as new economic zones, major national projects, and port and infrastructure development.

During the meeting, Abdelatty also expressed Egypt's desire to collaborate on mutual interests, including migration and water management. He appreciated the Netherlands' support for Egypt within European Union institutions. The two ministers also addressed several regional issues, with a primary focus on the Palestinian cause.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of implementing the first phase of the US president's plan, ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and speeding up the efforts of the committee managing the Strip. He also called for a halt to Israeli violations in the West Bank to help restore peace and stability in the region.

In light of the rapidly changing developments in the region, Abdelatty emphasized the need for diplomacy and dialogue, adhering to the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran to resume negotiations and reach a final agreement. He briefed his Dutch counterpart on Egypt's efforts to reduce regional tensions and called for international cooperation to address the economic, security, and geopolitical impacts of the ongoing conflict.
