Egypt Warns of Failure to Implement Sharm el Sheikh Peace Agreement

Cairo: Egypt's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Osama Abdel Khaleq, has issued a warning regarding the potential failure to implement the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement. This agreement is crucial for maintaining the ceasefire and ensuring stability in the region.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Khaleq made his remarks during a UN Security Council session focused on the situation in the Middle East. He criticized the Israeli Knesset's recent approval of two bills that assert Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, condemning it as a blatant violation of international law.

Furthermore, Abdel Khaleq expressed support for the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice. This opinion reaffirms that international law prohibits any attempts to displace or starve the Palestinian people. He emphasized that this ruling is a significant step in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Abdel Khaleq highlighted the importance of enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their inalienable rights, particularly the right to establish an independent state. He argued that achieving lasting peace in the region requires Israel's withdrawal from all occupied Arab territories.

In addition, Abdel Khaleq reaffirmed Egypt's solidarity with Syria and Lebanon, emphasizing the need to safeguard their legitimate rights and maintain their territorial integrity.
