Egypt Urges African Aviation Strategy for Global Competitiveness

Montreal: Civil Aviation Minister Samih El-Hefny called for a unified African approach to strengthen the continent's global standing in the aviation industry. Speaking at an African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) ministerial meeting on the sidelines of the 42nd ICAO General Assembly in Montreal, Canada, Hefny urged African nations to act with shared responsibility and solidarity, saying the continent's strength lies in its unity.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting, attended by AFCAC Secretary General Adefunke Adeyemi and several African ministers and civil aviation officials, addressed key priorities including aviation safety, sustainability, infrastructure development, and regional policy alignment, as stated in a press release by the Aviation Ministry.

Participants also stressed the need to invest in human capital and agreed on the importance of supporting African candidates in ICAO Council elections to secure stronger representation.
