Amman: Egypt's U-18 girls' volleyball team on Saturday, August 29, 2026, won the Arab Championship in Jordan after defeating Algeria 3-0 in the final. Egypt delivered a strong performance throughout the tournament, securing positive results before completing its campaign with a clean-sweep victory over Algeria and claiming the gold medal.According to State Information Service Egypt, the achievement highlights the strength of Egypt's youth women's volleyball program and the Egyptian Volleyball Federation's efforts to develop a new generation capable of achieving success at Arab, African, and international competitions. Egyptian Volleyball Federation President Yasser Kamar expressed his delight at the team's title triumph. He said the 3-0 victory over Algeria was a fitting reward for the team's outstanding performance throughout the tournament.Kamar congratulated the players and the technical and administrative staff, attributing the achievement to hard work, team spirit, and determination to win from the start of the tournament through the final. He praised the team for maintaining focus and determination throughout the competition, saying its strong performance against Algeria demonstrated its winning mentality.Kamar also commended the technical staff, led by head coach Tahani Tosson, as well as the support staff and delegation head Mona Abdel-Karim. He expressed hope that the title would mark another step toward a more successful future for Egyptian volleyball. The Egyptian team was coached by Tahani Tosson, assisted by Ahmed El-Mahdy as general coach and Amr El-Tony as technical analyst, while Dr. Ashraqat Abdel-Wanis served as physiotherapist.Mona Abdel-Karim, treasurer of the Egyptian Volleyball Federation, headed the Egyptian delegation during the tournament.
