Egypt to Launch ‘Tour n’ Cure’ Health Tourism Platform

Cairo: Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Abdel Ghaffar has announced the imminent launch of Egypt's official health tourism platform "Tour n' Cure". The digital portal is designed to streamline the patient experience by allowing international tourists to browse medical services at accredited facilities and access transparent pricing, thereby fostering greater global confidence in Egypt's healthcare infrastructure.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during a televised interview on "Extra News," Abdel Ghaffar highlighted the strategic collaboration between the Ministries of Health and Tourism. This partnership aims to implement a comprehensive framework for elevating medical care standards for visitors. He added that service quality and fiscal transparency are now the primary benchmarks for travelers when selecting a destination for either elective procedures or emergency care.

The initiative remains a high-priority file for Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy. Central to this strategy is the governance of clinical services within Egypt's premier tourist hubs, including Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor, and Aswan. The roadmap involves the formal accreditation of facilities under strict Ministry standards, while incentivizing providers to secure prestigious national and international quality certifications.

Furthermore, the Ministry is refining the regulatory environment by enhancing oversight mechanisms and standardizing interactions with international medical insurance providers. Addressing pricing concerns, Abdel Ghaffar clarified that the state does not intend to impose mandatory price controls. Instead, the government is collaborating with private and public providers to establish indicative pricing guidelines. These guidelines will ensure full financial disclosure, enabling tourists and insurers to accurately forecast costs, a move expected to solidify Egypt's position as a competitive and reliable medical tourism destination.
