Cairo: Egypt's Ministry of Civil Aviation is set to host the annual Africa and Indian Ocean Week (AFI Week) organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) from July 27 to 31, 2026. The event will bring together civil aviation ministers and officials, along with representatives from international and regional organizations, to discuss key issues related to air transport safety, security, and sustainability while exploring ways to strengthen regional cooperation.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the gathering highlights Egypt's prominent role in the civil aviation sector at both the regional and international levels. The event underscores the country's commitment to advancing discussions on important aviation matters and fostering collaboration among nations within the region.
Meanwhile, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny has held a series of meetings to review the final steps for a program to offer the management and operation of Hurghada International Airport in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance the efficiency and operational capabilities of Egypt's aviation infrastructure.
