Accra:Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rostom and ministry officials to discuss Egypt's economic performance and investment plans, as well as preparations for a national economic transformation program.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Rostom presented the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 2026/2027, which aims for a 5.4% economic growth rate supported by EGP 3.7 trillion in investments. The private sector is expected to contribute approximately 59% of these investments, highlighting the government's focus on increasing private-sector involvement and boosting manufacturing capabilities.
The National Economic Transformation Program for 2027-2030, which is being developed based on current sectoral and industrial strategies, aims to enhance the national economy's resilience to crises and improve private-sector competitiveness. This program also seeks to raise employment and productivity levels, create jobs that enhance living standards, and ensure a better distribution of investments across Egypt's governorates.
Key priorities of the program include improving public financial management, increasing energy efficiency and production, and expanding exports. An effective coordination framework is being established among the Central Bank of Egypt and the Ministries of Finance and Planning and Economic Development. Additionally, efforts are underway to develop legal frameworks to enhance the investment climate and safeguard investor rights, with a focus on entrepreneurship and fast-growing businesses.
Minister Rostom also discussed structural reforms under the State Ownership Policy Document and the government's public offering program, intended to create more opportunities for private sector-led growth. Furthermore, the ministry aims to expand financing options, diversify funding sources, and enhance liquidity to support both national and private-sector projects, alongside broadening the tax base through digitalization.
On human capital development, the minister emphasized initiatives to align workforce skills with market demands, including collaborations with LinkedIn for using big data to refine workforce planning. An expanded partnership with ESLSCA University was also highlighted, which has provided 1,500 scholarships for young government leaders to pursue a Master of Business Administration in Government, aiming to strengthen government administration through enhanced leadership skills.
