Egypt, Saudi Arabia Forge Strong Model for Arab Coordination in Aviation

Montreal: Civil Aviation Minister Samih El-Hefny announced that the Egyptian-Saudi relationship epitomizes a pioneering model of Arab integration in the air transport industry. He highlighted that the close coordination between Egypt and Saudi Arabia enhances their influence within the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and supports aviation safety, sustainability, and the development of the international aviation system.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this statement was made during a meeting between Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation and Saudi Arabia's Minister of Transport and Logistics, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser. The meeting took place at Egypt's Permanent Office at ICAO in Montreal, on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the organization's General Assembly.

Minister El-Hefny expressed Egypt's commitment to aligning its positions with Saudi Arabia and working jointly to protect the interests of the Arab region. He emphasized the importance of ensuring strong and effective Arab representation within the ICAO Council.

In response, Minister Al-Jasser stated that Saudi Arabia views Egypt as a strategic partner in the civil aviation sector. He noted that the cooperation between both countries reflects a shared vision regarding challenges and opportunities within ICAO. He stressed that ongoing coordination aims to enhance joint Arab action in aviation and unify efforts to ensure the sustainability of the air transport sector, benefiting development plans at both regional and international levels.
