Cairo: The Egyptian Embassy in Beirut officially received 74 Egyptian archaeological artifacts on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The artifacts, which date back to different historical periods, were handed over during a ceremony attended by Lebanese Culture Minister Ghassan Salame and Egypt's ambassador to Lebanon Alaa Moussa, marking a significant step ahead of their return to Egypt.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this recovery is a result of the close cooperation between Egypt and Lebanon in protecting cultural heritage and combating the illicit trafficking of archaeological property. The Egyptian Ambassador emphasized that the return of these artifacts reflects the depth of the historic ties between the two nations and their shared commitment to preserving human heritage.

The Ambassador also highlighted Egypt's dedication to strengthening cultural and archaeological cooperation with Lebanon, aiming to expand prospects for cultural collaboration and preserve the civilizational heritage of both countries. This initiative is part of Egypt's broader efforts to recover its antiquities that have been illegally taken out of the country, with coordination among the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in collaboration with supportive nations, to ensure their safe return.
