New York:Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has reiterated Egypt's steadfast support for Lebanon, emphasizing Cairo's commitment to aiding the Lebanese state and its national institutions. This support aims to preserve Lebanon's stability, security, and territorial integrity, and to enhance the capacity of its state institutions during the current critical phase.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly conveyed these remarks during a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, under the mandate of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The discussion was attended by Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, and Egypt's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ihab Awad. Madbouly praised the Lebanese leadership's efforts, under President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, to leverage opportunities to mitigate escalation and foster conditions for restoring calm.

Moreover, Madbouly confirmed Egypt's support for initiatives aimed at fortifying Lebanon's sovereignty, respecting its independence, and supporting its national institutions, especially the Lebanese Armed Forces, to maintain national security and stability.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam expressed his gratitude for Egypt's support, highlighting the deep historic and fraternal ties between the two nations. He acknowledged Egypt's unwavering assistance to Lebanon and its commitment to helping the country navigate its current challenges.

Salam also conveyed Lebanon's eagerness to enhance coordination and maintain consultations with Egypt. He noted the value of Egypt's expertise in various sectors to aid Lebanon's efforts toward stability and development. The Lebanese government is keen on expanding bilateral cooperation and exploring new opportunities for joint endeavors that benefit both countries and their citizens.
