Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met on Monday, July 6, 2026, with Nabil Fahmy, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. During the meeting at the Arab League headquarters, Abdelatty congratulated Fahmy on officially assuming office.According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty stated that such unanimous appointment reflects the deep confidence Arab nations place in Fahmy's extensive diplomatic experience and leadership. He reaffirmed Egypt's full support for the Secretary-General and his efforts to advance joint Arab action within the League.The Foreign Minister stressed the League's central role in strengthening coordination among Arab states, underscoring that the political, security, economic, and social challenges facing the Arab world require greater unity and cooperation.The discussions also reviewed critical regional developments, including the Palestinian issue, the situations in Lebanon, Sudan, and Libya, and the lates t developments in the United States-Iran negotiations.For his part, Secretary-General Fahmy expressed his appreciation for Egypt's steadfast support. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with member states to strengthen the League's role in addressing regional challenges and promoting security and stability.
