Cairo: Egypt's Cairo University has announced the official commercial licensing of 'EZVent', the first critical care ventilator that is fully designed, developed, and manufactured in Egypt. The device was produced in collaboration with Ezz Medical Industries and meets international standards for performance and safety.According to State Information Service Egypt, EZVent was developed through a wholly Egyptian scientific, engineering, and medical effort, marking a major step towards domestic self-sufficiency in vital medical equipment. The Cairo University Faculty of Medicine played a pivotal role in developing the prototype and conducted clinical trials at its Continuing Medical Education Centre and intensive care unit.The trials demonstrated that the ventilator performed effectively with no side effects or physiological changes in patients, confirming its readiness for use in critical care settings. This achievement signifies a significant milestone in linking research with industry, transforming academi c innovation into a practical solution. It also aims to strengthen Egypt's health system resilience, particularly during emergencies and crises.
