Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed on Monday, December 15, 2025, Egypt's commitment to partnering with Italy's ENI to enhance healthcare infrastructure through the establishment of advanced medical facilities offering specialized services, highlighting a shared vision that prioritizes human development and public health.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the remarks came during a meeting at the New Capital with ENI officials, including ENI Foundation President Domenico Giani, alongside Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, President of Italy's San Donato Hospital Group Kamal Al-Ghareebi, Head of Health Sector at ENI Foundation Filippo Uberti, and ENI General Manager in Egypt Francesco Gaspari. The meeting focused on joint cooperation in community healthcare development. Madbouly hailed ENI as a strategic partner for Egypt, extending beyond energy to play an active role in the country's sustainable development initiatives.
Discussions included the management and operation of one or more hospitals in Egypt in collaboration with San Donato Hospital Group, exemplifying corporate social responsibility. Madbouly emphasized that ENI's involvement in healthcare infrastructure reflects the alignment of Egypt's human development priorities with international expertise.
Abdel Ghaffar confirmed an agreement with ENI Foundation to manage the New Heliopolis Hospital and New Capital 2 Hospital, reinforcing Egypt's efforts to expand medical infrastructure and provide comprehensive healthcare services through public-private partnerships.
The New Capital 2 Hospital will offer 377 beds with cardiac catheterization and open-heart surgery units, while New Heliopolis Hospital, serving over four million residents in the Nozha area, will provide 443 beds, specialized oncology and burn treatment, a stroke unit, and a nursing school.
Badawi highlighted that the partnership extends Egypt's longstanding strategic cooperation with ENI, which goes beyond petroleum and gas to community development initiatives.
Giani expressed satisfaction with the project, emphasizing its scale and service to millions of Egyptians, while Ghareebi affirmed that hospital operations will adhere to international best practices. Madbouly stresses the importance of accelerating implementation and expressed confidence in San Donato Hospital Group to deliver on the project, promising continued government support.
