Cairo:Egypt is taking significant steps to enhance its military production capabilities as part of a broader strategy to modernize its defense industry. Minister of State for Military Production Salah Suleiman Gomblat has outlined plans to increase the output and quality of military products, following directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. These initiatives aim to leverage existing manufacturing capabilities while developing human resources and adopting modern technologies.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Gomblat made these remarks during an inspection visit to the Shubra Engineering Industries Company, also known as Military Factory 27, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The visit was part of a series of field tours designed to monitor production, assess operational performance, and ensure alignment with established plans.
During his tour, Gomblat observed the production line for 7.62×39 mm ammunition, evaluated compliance with industrial safety standards, and visited the hardness-testing department. This department is equipped with specialized tools to measure the hardness of cartridge cases. The minister emphasized the importance of stringent quality control measures throughout the production process to enhance industrial performance and build trust in locally manufactured products.
The tour also included an inspection of production lines for ammunition components, alloys, and pressing operations, such as drawing and pressing machines for manufacturing small-caliber ammunition. Gomblat highlighted the need for optimal use of the company's technical resources and manufacturing prowess to boost productivity and efficiency. Furthermore, he reviewed the administrative performance and called for improved coordination between technical and administrative departments.
Gomblat noted that the upcoming period would require increased efforts to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen both technical and administrative performance, and uphold the highest standards of quality and industrial safety.
