Cairo:Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, held the second edition of the Labor Mobility Forum 2026 in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the European Union (EU). The event, themed “Terminal Europe,” took place over three days.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the forum was inaugurated by Deputy Foreign Minister for Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Nabil Habashi, German Ambassador to Egypt Jürgen Schulz, and EU Ambassador to Egypt Angelina Eichhorst. It marked the first gathering of representatives from 26 German and European institutions and entities.
Nabil Habashi emphasized the importance of expanding safe and regular skilled labor migration, highlighting the need to align Egyptian talent with European labor market demands through vocational, language, and cultural training. He pointed out opportunities presented by the THAMM Plus program and a September 2026 letter of intent with the German state of Saxony to facilitate such migration.
The forum included activities under the “Terminal Europe” theme, allowing young Egyptians to engage with European institutions and companies about employment and training opportunities, qualification recognition procedures, visa processes, and fair recruitment requirements. During the forum, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the German Federal Employment Agency to enhance skilled labor mobility between Egypt and Germany. Additionally, a letter of intent was signed with Siemens Healthineers to train Egyptian personnel in radiology and medical imaging.
A graduation ceremony for the first cohort of a specialized radiology technician training program, comprising 47 technicians, was also part of the forum. The event was attended by Mohamed Fawzy, Adviser to the Health Minister for Radiology Affairs, and Amr Kandil, Chairman of Siemens Healthineers in Egypt.
The Labor Mobility Forum underscores Egypt’s commitment to deepening partnerships with Germany and the EU, fostering sustainable migration pathways, and expanding employment opportunities for young Egyptians. It also aims to strengthen vocational training, support shared interests, prevent irregular migration, and promote sustainable development.
