Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Sunday Egypt's firm rejection of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, denouncing displacement plans, acts of genocide, and the use of starvation as a weapon against the Palestinian people.According to State Information Service Egypt, during talks on Sunday with Secretary General of Fatah's Central Committee Jibril Rajoub, Abdelatty stressed the importance of Israel's accepting the ceasefire proposal brokered by mediators Egypt and Qatar, which is based on the initiative of US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.He said the deal would pave the way for launching reconstruction steps, beginning with the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction, scheduled to be held in Egypt in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations.The minister reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts to end the war on Gaza and to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid.On the Wes t Bank, Abdelatty condemned Israel's settlement plan in the E1 area, as well as other illegal practices, including land confiscation and settler intimidation campaigns against Palestinians.Both sides also discussed mobilizing international support for recognizing the State of Palestine, as well as the expected outcomes of the international conference on implementing the two-state solution, to be held in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly later this month.Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's full support for the Palestinian people's rights, foremost their right to self-determination and to establish an independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
