Egypt Extends Invitation to Codelco for Copper Mining Ventures

Cairo: Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy met with M¡ximo Pacheco, Chairman of Chile's state-owned copper company Codelco, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, to discuss potential cooperation in copper mining ventures in Egypt's Eastern Desert.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the Energy Intelligence Forum 2025 and focused on expanding collaboration between Egypt and Codelco, the world's largest copper producer. Badawy extended an invitation to Pacheco to explore investment opportunities in Egypt's mining sector. Both parties agreed to coordinate a technical mission from Codelco to evaluate potential areas of partnership with the Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority.
