Egypt Explores Innovation in Heart Disease Treatment with Global Firms


Cairo: Executive Director of Egypt’s General Authority for Universal Health Insurance, Mai Farid, met with a high-level delegation from “Edwards Lifesciences” and “Capital Eyes” to discuss enhancing cooperation in advanced medical supplies, focusing particularly on treating structural heart diseases and valves. This initiative is part of the Egyptian government’s ongoing efforts to revamp the healthcare system and improve medical services across the nation.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Farid emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration between the public and private sectors. She noted that such partnerships are crucial to ensuring high standards of healthcare under the universal insurance system, thereby contributing to comprehensive health coverage for the Egyptian population.



During the meeting, “Edwards Lifesciences” showcased its latest global innovations in the manufacturing of advanced medical supplies for heart disease treatment and intensive care monitoring. The company expressed its intention to expand within the burgeoning Egyptian market, prioritizing patient care and safety.



Farid further elaborated that the authority is committed to updating medical services by relying on scientific evidence, health economics tools, and health technology assessments. This approach aims to maintain a balance between quality healthcare and financial sustainability.



The meeting also saw the participation of representatives from the authority, including Ahmed Siam and Ahmed Wagih, as well as executives from “Edwards Lifesciences” such as Fabian Magnan and Kevin Crevecoeur. “Capital Eyes” was represented by Mahmoud Hatem and Noha Shaaban.
