Egypt Enhances Coordination for Medical Supply and Logistics Development

Cairo: Institutional coordination between the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) and the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement was recently bolstered through a meeting aimed at developing the medical supply and logistics system while deepening local manufacturing in priority medical sectors. Commercial Minister Plenipotentiary Abdul Aziz Al-Sharif, First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Head of ECS, met with Dr. Hisham Stet, Head of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply and Logistics and Medical Technology Management at the headquarters of the Authority in the new capital.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting focused on joint cooperation to support the localization of medical and pharmaceutical industries and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian medical products. Discussions also revolved around utilizing ECS's international offices to open new markets for Egyptian medical exports, promoting national industrial capabilities, attracting foreign investments, and transferring advanced technology.

The attendees also explored strategies to support the 'Africa Health ExCon' (AFCON), a prominent regional platform for medical and pharmaceutical industries, medical technology developers, and health sector decision-makers across Africa. The ECS is actively working to encourage global medical and pharmaceutical companies to participate in the exhibition, thus expanding opportunities for industrial partnerships and technology transfer.

Preparations for Egypt's participation as the official guest of honor at the International Dental Conference and Exhibition 'AEEDC Dubai 2026' were also discussed. Scheduled for January 19 to 21, 2026, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, this participation is a testament to Egypt's growing role in supporting the healthcare sector regionally. Egypt's involvement will highlight its contributions to medical education, scientific research, and innovation in dentistry.

The meeting concluded with both parties affirming that Egypt's participation in AEEDC Dubai 2026 and the Africa Health ExCon exhibition supports Egypt's vision to be a regional hub for medical industries and services. This initiative aims to enhance cross-border health cooperation, support health security, deepen regional value chains, and increase Egyptian medical exports, thereby solidifying Egypt's position as a pivotal partner in the region.
