Cairo: Egypt's Labour Minister Mohamed Gobran announced that November 1st will be a paid public holiday for private-sector workers, coinciding with the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
According to State Information Service Egypt, the decision comes in response to a directive from Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, who had already granted the same holiday to employees in ministries, government agencies, local administrations, and state-owned companies. The Labour Ministry conveyed this decision in a statement released on Sunday.
The ministry has circulated Circular No. 20 of 2025 to all labour directorates across the nation, directing them to implement the decision and ensure that private-sector workers receive the paid leave. Gobran urged heads of central departments and labour directorates to distribute the circular widely in workplaces and production sites to ensure full compliance.
