Egypt Criticizes Colombia’s Embassy Move to Jerusalem

Jerusalem:Egypt Egypt has strongly condemned the opening of a Colombian embassy in occupied Jerusalem, issuing a statement through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the statement described this move as a flagrant violation of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions. It was emphasized that such actions undermine efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace and attempt to alter the legal and historical status of the city.

The Egyptian government stressed that unilateral measures aimed at changing the legal and historical status of occupied Jerusalem are considered null and void, carrying no legal effect. The statement reiterated the importance of respecting relevant international resolutions and adhering to the two-state solution. This solution is seen as the only viable path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with east Jerusalem as its capital.
