Egypt Condemns Israeli Settlers’ Actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Cairo: Egypt strongly condemned on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli police and the raising of the Israeli flag inside its courtyards, describing the move as a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

According to State Information Service Egypt, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt said the act represents a rejected provocation to the sentiments of Muslims worldwide and a dangerous escalation that risks fueling tensions and undermining efforts aimed at de-escalation and restoring stability.

Egypt reiterated its full rejection of any attempts to alter the historical and legal status quo in Al-Quds and its Islamic and Christian holy sites. The statement stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities to halt repeated Israeli violations and curb practices that further inflame tensions and weaken prospects for calm.

Egypt also renewed its firm support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, in order to achieve a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian cause.
